The Digital Health Security Awareness eLearning course has been developed to provide an introduction to online security concepts for the healthcare sector.

There are five topics in this course which take around 1 hour 45 minutes to complete.

Learning outcomes

1. recognise the importance of developing a positive security culture to protect health information
2. adopt a continuous learning approach, so you can recognise and manage emerging security risks
3. identify where to obtain information about the latest security threats
4. describe the importance of sharing security information with your colleagues.

1. explain why you need to 'think before you click' to stay safe online
2. adopt safe email practices to reduce the risk of a security incident or data breach
3. recognise the consequences of sharing information when posting online
4. identify the risks of using public Wi-Fi to access, send or receive sensitive information.

1. recognise the importance of using a unique password for each device and account
2. create strong passwords that are easy for you to remember (but hard for someone else to guess)
3. adopt good password practices
4. identify the benefits of multi-factor authentication for greater protection.

1. explain the need to keep devices up to date to reduce the risk of known vulnerabilities
2. identify how to use Wi-Fi safely
3. recognise the risks of using USB drives
4. appreciate the importance of having robust backup processes.

1. identify the actions you need to take in case of a security incident in your organisation
2. locate information regarding privacy legislation for healthcare organisations
3. recognise your legal obligations and reporting requirements, to protect health information.
