    Using My Health Record for Junior Medical Officers

    This course provides an overview of My Health Record for Junior Medical Officers and describes how clinicians can use it within emergency departments. 

    The content in this course has been divided into four short topics:

    • Topic 1: A brief overview of My Health Record for Junior Medical Officers
    • Topic 2: The role of My Health Record in healthcare delivery for Junior Medical Officers
    • Topic 3: My Health Record access and use for Junior Medical Officers
    • Topic 4: My Health Record resources and assessment

    At the end of this course, you will be able to:

    • determine the key health information you can access to support clinical decision-making and improve patient safety
    • outline how accessing information in My Health Record can support emergency departments and improve patient care
    • explain patient access controls and the appropriate use of emergency ‘break glass’ function.

    These outcomes assume that you have some knowledge of the My Health record system.

    Each Topic will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. You can leave at any time and return later.

    At the end of Topic 4, you will be able to complete a short quiz to check your understanding of the course content and can then receive a course completion certificate.

    NOTE: All staff required to access the My Health Record system as part of their job must complete training prior to using the system for the first time. This training must cover: 

    • how to use the My Health Record system accurately and responsibly (covered in this course)
    • the legal obligations on healthcare provider organisations and individuals using the My Health Record system and the consequences of breaching those obligations (please complete the My Health Record Security, Privacy and Access course).
