Digital health foundations for nursing and midwifery: Competency preparation for placement

This course has been developed in collaboration with LaTrobe University to help you form a foundation for digital competencies required in the nursing and midwifery professions.

The Australian Digital Health Agency is currently working with healthcare provider organisations to connect and use My Health Record to ensure timely and connected care.

When healthcare services are connected through digital health tools, healthcare providers and authorised health care staff have immediate access to an individual's key health information. This connected healthcare will support providers to ensure that their clients or patients receive better continuity of care. My Health Record empowers clients and their carers to share their medical information securely with related health professionals, ensuring they can receive timely treatment.

The content of this module has been divided into 5 topics that align with the National nursing and midwifery digital health capability framework:

  1. Digital professionalism in nursing and midwifery
  2. Leadership and advocacy in nursing and midwifery
  3. Data and information quality in nursing and midwifery
  4. Information enabled care in nursing and midwifery
  5. Technology in nursing and midwifery
